We Asked, Gianna Answered

  • What is one of your fundamental beliefs about education?

Education is learning, growth, and empowerment! My students are all so unique so teaching entails learning about the student and their preferred method of understanding. While doing so, I am constantly learning and growing alongside them to support them as best as possible. After a period of growth, students often find empowerment in their abilities to learn and apply their skills which further assures my ability to teach.
  • What is your favorite subject to teach and why?

My favorite subject to teach is math! I think math is so interesting and valuable to so many fields which further allows for breakthroughs and ideas to prosper.
  • Share an anecdote about a time your student hit a wall and how the student overcame it.

Sometimes, my students do not have trouble retaining material or understanding it, but they are not confident about the choices that they make when solving questions. However, consistent encouragement throughout sessions allows them to feel much more empowered to solve problems on their own and soon enough they are flying through them with ease.

Hayutin is such a supportive, welcoming and understanding company that allows me to feel like I can be the best teacher to my students. With their assistance, I feel assured that I can provide the best resources and guidance to anyone I teach.
  • What is the favorite thing you've learned from a student?

I have learned so much about the intersection of resilience, support and trust from my students. They are so resilient and dedicated when they are given the right amount of trust and support from myself and their community.

  • Other than education, what is something you are passionate about?

I am very passionate about social justice, medicine, and the intersection of both.

  • What’s something you learned about yourself after high school that you wish you knew back then?

I wish I knew how confident I was in high school! I often did not take some opportunities or push myself further due to a lack of confidence. Once I was placed into the right environment (UCLA), I was able to thrive!

  • What is a stretch you experienced growing up?

Growing up, I was often blocked by a lack of educational support and overall stability in my life. I no longer struggle with these as I have built a community of loving people who are always willing to provide encouragement and assistance. I hope to provide the same for my students in their endeavors as well!
